Best Cotswold Guide

Born in the village of Wyck Rissington in the heart of the Cotswolds I have lived and worked in the area all my life. I have farmed the family farm and 2 other farms on a contract basis until I took early retirement in 2016. I converted the farms into Organic production in 2000, certified by the Soil Association. I grew Wheat for bread making, Barley for brewing, Oats for biscuits and porridge, and pulses for mostly animal protein. I also had a 60 Angus x cow single suckle herd producing meat for Local Organic farms, such as Daylesford and for Marks and Spencer.

My love and knowledge of the countryside that makes up the Cotswolds is huge, and want to share my enthusiasm and passion for such a beautiful area with others. Whatever time of year I can explain exactly what is going in the fields around us as we travel in luxury around the picturesque villages.

The Grandlings

My wife and I have brought up 5 children, and now have 5 grandchildren who all live locally.

My Favourite Cotswold Destinations

I love to admire the beauty of the unique picturesque villages of the North Cotswolds, such as The Slaughters, and Snowshill.  I adore Lower Slaughter for its beauty and tranquility. It really is a place to unwind.

Sudeley Castle, a wonderful place to visit, has something for everyone The History, Gardens, a magnificent fortress, tranquillity, and beauty are all to be enjoyed.

Broadway Tower, with its far reaching views over 12 counties is also a highlight.

Owlpen Manor is a very special place to visit. Steeped in history in a rural backwater near Uley, it remains one of my favourite visits. Private guided tours can be arranged with the Owners.

Village Cricket, an essential part of a Cotswold summer is played in most villages.  When organised cricket first began in the 17th.C matches were played between rival parishes or villages. Village cricket teams are often made up of local residents.
